UPCOMING ARTIST TO WATCH: MADI DIAZ

If you enjoy the relatable lyrics and indie-pop style of artists like Sara Bareilles and Yael Naim, tune into Madi Diaz, a School of Rock Philadelphia alumna. Born to a Peruvian mother and Danish father in Amish Country, Pennsylvania, Diaz has always had an affinity for contrasts, especially in her musical tastes. Growing up, Diaz would sing along with her musician father to the Mamas and the Papas, Sheryl Crow, and the Beatles, among others.

The attraction to contrast is visible in Diaz’s forth-coming full-length album (title TBD), which is slated for an early 2012 release. The album is a mix of pop music and organic Americana, catchy tunes and heartbreaking melodies.  The advance EP, Far From Things That We Know drops on September 20th. If you can’t wait that long, you can catch the 25 year-old Nashville based artist alongside her long-time collaborator, Kyle Ryan, at the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre on August 15th performing with fellow School of Rock All Stars at Film on the Rocks 2011: Stop Making Sense.

To learn more about Madi, look out for updates on her website and Facebookpage.
